With only days left until the release of the Wicked movie, starring Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and Jonathan Bailey, a mishap has caused quite a stir.
Mattel, the company that also makes Barbie dolls, had released dolls of the characters played by British actress Cynthia Erivo and singer Ariana Grande. However, even before the film's release, a major error emerged.
It turned out that the packaging of Mattel's Wicked dolls mistakenly featured a link to an adult website instead of the film's official site.
When customers clicked the link on the doll packages, they were directed to a porn site named “Wicked” instead of WickedMovie.com.
According to Euronews, Mattel was forced to issue a statement.
In their response, they expressed, 'We deeply regret this error, which is not suitable for children. We are taking immediate steps to correct this. We advise customers who own the product to dispose of the packaging or cover the link.'
As The Hollywood Reporter noted, this wasn’t an isolated mistake, as the entire collection of Mattel’s Wicked dolls has reportedly been pulled from the shelves of major stores across the U.S.
