Coffee Trader Goes Viral After Tasting and Grading Dozens of Cups One by One
In the coffee trade, tasting coffee known as “cupping” is the standard way to assess its aroma, acidity, body, and balance of flavors. Ground coffee is placed in a cup, hot water is poured over it, and after a few minutes, the crust that forms on the surface is broken with a spoon. The coffee is then drawn off the spoon with an audible slurp, allowing its aroma to spread across the palate. Tasters usually spit it out rather than swallow, which lets them sample and compare dozens of cups in a row.
The coffee taster “dineymartims” shared footage of themselves sampling dozens of cups lined up on a table and jotting down notes after each one. Their calm, focused manner at the tasting table left viewers mesmerized.
