Nokia 3310 Is Officially Back: Check Out Its New Look, Specs And New Snake!

Mobile-

The Nokia 3310 achieved its cult status due to its impressively long battery life, durability, and the addictive game Snake. You may already have read the news earlier this month that the 3310 could make a comeback soon after 17 years had passed since it first launched in 2000.

The rumors are true – the Nokia 3310 is back, and it even has Snake! The updated version of the early noughties icon, famed for its seemingly indestructible qualities, was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today. With its new peppy colors but still the same ‘featured phone’ look, Nokia 3310 boasts of a 22-hour talk time and a month long stand-by!

Released in 2000, the original Nokia 3310 sold 126 million units worldwide, making it one of the world's best-selling mobile phones.

Anticipation of a remake model with fairly basic specs (like a phone that doesn’t even have 3G), have been high ever since news of its release leaked earlier this year.

Even before HMD or Nokia revealed the details on the appearance of the device, fan-made pictures have been circulating all over the internet.

The relaunched 3310 is produced by new mobile firm HMD Global, which licensed the Nokia brand last year. HMD is filled with key ex-Nokia people, and the phone appears to have lost none of the charm and identity of the 17-year-old original.

The revamped Nokia 3310 was unveiled during HMD's press conference at MWC 2017 on Sunday, February 26.

Here's brand new Nokia 3310!

The refreshed Nokia 3310 remains a "dumb" phone with an alphanumeric keyboard and no touchscreen. It also retains the retro charm of the original handset, with its curved body and bright colored design, and HMD claims it is just as durable as the original.

The handset comes in four colors – Warm Red and Yellow, both with a gloss finish, and Dark Blue and Grey both with a matte finish.

But how closely does the new 3310 resemble the original? Here's everything you need to know:

The original Nokia 3310 had a small monochrome graphic display, but HMD has brought it into the 21st century with a larger 2.4-inch, full-color display. However, don't expect a high-resolution screen as seen on the latest Apple or Samsung devices. HMD is keeping the device simple, in order to preserve battery life.

New 3310 also boasts a 2-Megapixel camera, 16MB of internal memory - which can be expanded up to 32 GB with a microSD card - and 2G connectivity, to take the noughties experience online.

HMD is planning to make the new Nokia 3310 available in Q2 this year for 49 euros ($52).

The Opera Mini is bundled for basic web surfing, but the real selling point is battery life. Just like most featurephones, standby time on the Nokia 3310 is 31 days, alongside a talk time of 22 hours. That’s a massive amount of battery life, but as the phone is so basic you’re hardly going to be wasting battery away on Snapchat or Facebook.

And yes - it comes with the iconic mobile game, Snake.

Of course social media already started to react in different ways:

How do you feel?
Lovely
Scream
Tears of Joy
Relieved Face
Clapping Hands
Thumbs Down
Angry
